A real-time boat configurator turns every finish, location and time of day into an invitation to explore. Then race.

ROM Boats invited future owners to experience a vessel before it existed. We created a real-time 3D simulator that brings product discovery, configuration and play into one continuous mobile journey.

Users select a model and personalise its hull, deck, fabrics, patterns and finishes. The boat can then be viewed in a marina or bay and under different times of day, helping every material choice respond to light and place.

Exploration gives way to a racing minigame. The same customised vessel becomes playable, navigating checkpoints and revealing hidden challenges without leaving the visual language of the configurator.

Presented at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival through QR codes and a WebApp display, the experience was also released for Android and iOS. A saved configuration could move beyond the screen and become the starting point for a real request.
